Context

An Agency within Government expected to receive a substantial uplift in spending over the coming five years and wanted to assess the performance of its portfolio of projects, which would manage and direct that money, particularly regarding its ability to handle major infrastructure upgrades.

Assignment

Alpine was asked to assess key projects in the portfolio, starting with an Asset Management capability that was more than a year behind plan and then working through the remainder of the portfolio.

Outcome

Alpine worked with the Agency and its Asset Management supplier to assess the project and built a new, viable delivery plan, adjusting scope and adopting new disciplines.

That plan has been consistently delivered since then and it remains on target. The other projects were assessed and important dependencies (not previously identified) were built into new delivery plans.

In some cases deadlines were revised to make them more realistic and new project management disciplines were introduced to support better management.
