Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Alpine Resourcing Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2035.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: Jan – Dec 2021
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
- 2021 is the base year and first year’s calculations.
- Office emissions calculated based on Alpine occupying 0.46% of the building’s square footage.
- We use www.carbonfootprint.com online calculator, tailored to SMEs, to calculate our emissions.
- Employee commute is conducted via a yearly survey, asking employees to state their method of transport and distances multiplied by the estimated number of office visits per week, month or year.
- Business travel is calculated via the expense claim process, calculating the method of transport and distances for each claim.
Baseline year emissions:
Emissions | Total (tCO2e) |
---|---|
Scope 1 | Zero – We do not emit any scope 1 emissions. There are no direct emission that are under our control. We rent our office space so have no control over any fuel combustion. Also, we do not own any fleet/company cars. We will continue to work with our office landlord to provide data and aim to update the reports in the future as the data becomes available. |
Scope 2 | 2.51 tonnes: 2202 kWh of electricity at 0.2311 kgCO2e/kWh Calculation: Alpine’s office space is 0.46% of the total square footage of the building. Total kWh for the building is 478765.3 of which 0.46% is 2202 kWh |
Scope 3 (Included Sources) |
0.06 tonnes of CO2e Calculated via business travel expenses and employee commute: Car and Van: 0.01 tonnes of CO2e Bus & Rail: 0.05 tonnes of CO2e |
Total Emissions | 2.57 tonnes of CO2e |
Current Emissions Reporting

Emissions reduction targets
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe our omissions may rise over the next 2-3 years due to employees starting to commute more into the office and to business meetings. We will consider altering the base year, if using 2021 is deemed to reflect unrealistic figures.
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
We will continue to encourage employees to only commute to the office and business meetings when necessary.
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 2.31 tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 10% from our base year.
For 2022, via www.carbonfootprint.com we have off-set 2.63 tCO2e through VCS certified carbon reduction programmes across the world via a range of projects.
Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:
Actual reading is 2.63 for the year 2021.
Carbon Reduction Projects
As part of our commitment to achieve Net Zero, Alpine participates in the following initiatives and policies:
ISO 14001 Accreditation – held since 2006 and processes are reviewed bi-annually and externally audited annually.
Employee Commuting – employees are able to use the government’s cycle to work scheme and encouraged to attend client meetings via bicycle either owned or rented.
Business Travel – where possible, employees encouraged to attend meetings online (e.g. via Teams or Zoom) rather than travel to business meetings. Being based in London means public transport is the norm when travelling to meetings.
Working From Home – fully initiated within Alpine to ALL employees. Employees only to travel when necessary.
Office – working with our office provider to maintain and improve low energy, motion-sensor lighting throughout the building; recycling points throughout the building; all rooms have temperature controls which automatically adjust when unoccupied; outdoor furniture sourced from reclaimed plastic from the sea.
Recycling – working with a local recycling firm, Alpine engages with them for all office recycling including paper, card, electrical and furniture waste. This is addition to the mixed recycling and battery recycling points provided by our office provider.
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
- Completing the assessment of emissions to identify further steps to reduce carbon
- Work with our existing office landlord to further improve existing initiatives
- Off-set our yearly carbon footprint via www.carbonfootprint.com
